Prayer During Grief

Gentle guidance for praying when you are grieving a loss.

God Is Near to the Brokenhearted

Grief is heavy. Whether you have lost a loved one, a relationship, a job, or a dream, the pain is real. Prayer does not remove grief instantly, but it gives you a place to bring your pain honestly before God.

The Bible says, "The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit." — Psalm 34:18 (KJV)

You Can Be Honest

God is not surprised by your tears, your anger, or your questions. You can tell Him exactly how you feel. You do not have to pretend to be okay.

Pray for comfort, for God's presence, and for strength to face each day. Some days, the prayer may simply be, "Lord, help me get through today."

Grief Takes Time

There is no timeline for grief. Be gentle with yourself. Prayer does not mean you must feel better immediately. It means you are not carrying your grief alone.

A Simple Prayer

Lord, I am hurting. This loss is heavier than I know how to carry. Thank You for being near to the brokenhearted. Please comfort me in my sorrow. Give me strength for today, and help me to trust that You are with me even in the darkest moments. Amen.

You matter, and help is available.
