Praying Through Scripture
Use a Bible verse as the starting point for your own prayers.
Let God's Word Guide Your Prayers
If you are not sure what to pray, the Bible gives you words to use. Praying through Scripture means reading a verse slowly, reflecting on it, and turning its meaning into a personal prayer.
This is not complicated. It is simply letting God's words shape the way you talk to Him.
A Simple Pattern
Try this three-step approach:
- Read the verse slowly, more than once.
- Reflect on what it says about God, about you, or about your situation.
- Turn its words into a personal prayer.
An Example
Here is a verse and a prayer drawn from it:
"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
— Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)
A Simple Prayer
Lord, Your Word tells me not to be anxious but to bring everything to You in prayer. So I bring You my worries today. Thank You for Your faithfulness. Please give me Your peace — the kind that goes beyond what I can understand. Guard my heart and my mind through Christ Jesus. Amen.
