Salvation Journey
Following Jesus is a lifelong journey.
If you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ, you do not have to have everything figured out today. Start with the next step. God invites you to know Him, grow in faith, and walk with Him one day at a time.
You Have Taken an Important Step
Salvation is not something you earn. It is a gift from God, received through faith in Jesus Christ. You do not need to become perfect before God accepts you — He meets you where you are.
God's grace means your past is forgiven, your present is in His hands, and your future is secure in Him. This is a new beginning.
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
— Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV)
Start Talking to God
Prayer is simply talking honestly with God. You do not need special words or a special place. You can pray anywhere, at any time.
Try these simple ways to begin:
- Thank God for what He has done.
- Ask Him for guidance and help.
- Be honest about your struggles.
- Pray for the people in your life.
- Talk with God regularly — even briefly.
"Lord, thank You for saving me. I don't have it all figured out, but I trust You. Help me to know You more each day. Guide my steps and teach me to follow You. In Jesus' name, Amen."
Begin Reading the Bible
The Bible is how God speaks to us. Reading Scripture helps you know Him better and grow in your faith. Start small — even a few verses a day is a meaningful beginning.
Great places to start:
- John — the story of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection.
- Mark — a shorter, fast-paced account of Jesus' life.
- Psalms — prayers and songs for every season of life.
"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."
— Psalm 119:105 (KJV)
Find a Local Church
Following Jesus was never meant to be done alone. Being part of a local church connects you with other believers who can encourage, support, and help you grow.
Look for a church that:
- Teaches the Bible faithfully.
- Centers its teaching on Jesus Christ.
- Encourages prayer and worship.
- Provides Christian community and care.
- Helps believers grow and serve others.
Learn About Baptism
Baptism is an important step of obedience for a believer. It is a public way of showing what God has done in your heart — an outward expression of an inward faith.
If you are interested in baptism, the best next step is to talk with a local pastor or church leader. They can help you understand baptism and walk with you through it.
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost."
— Matthew 28:19 (KJV)
Grow One Day at a Time
Spiritual growth takes time. You will not have everything figured out right away, and that is okay. God is patient with you, and He is at work in your life even when you cannot see it.
Some ways to grow:
- Pray regularly and honestly.
- Read Scripture a little each day.
- Worship God in your own way.
- Stay connected with other believers.
- Serve others with love.
- Trust God through good and difficult seasons alike.
Struggles do not mean you have failed as a Christian. They are part of growing, and God uses them to shape you.
What If I Mess Up?
Christians still struggle, fail, and sin. That does not mean you have lost your salvation or that God has given up on you. God's grace is greater than our failures.
When you stumble:
- Be honest with God about what happened.
- Confess your sin and ask for forgiveness.
- Learn from it and keep moving forward.
- Seek help from trusted believers when you need it.
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
— 1 John 1:9 (KJV)
You do not need to be perfect to remain in God's love. He forgives, restores, and continues His work in you.
Share Your Faith
When you feel ready, tell others what Jesus has done in your life. You do not need to be a Bible expert. Your story is enough.
Your story might simply include:
- What your life was like before.
- Why you turned to Jesus.
- What you are learning now.
There is no pressure to share publicly right away. Start with someone you trust. God will use your story in His timing.
You Are Not Alone
God is with you. Growth takes time, and you do not have to walk this journey alone. You can pray, read Scripture, connect with a church, and ask for prayer whenever you need to.
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
— 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)
