When You Don't Know What to Say
Short, honest prayers are enough. God hears the heart behind the words.
You Do Not Need the Right Words
Sometimes life is overwhelming. You may feel hurt, exhausted, or unsure of what to say to God. That is okay. Prayer does not require a script.
Some of the most honest prayers in Scripture are just a few words long. God is not measuring the length or eloquence of your prayers. He is listening for your heart.
Short Prayers Are Enough
If you cannot find the words, try one of these:
- "God, I need Your help."
- "Lord, give me strength."
- "Please guide me."
- "God, I don't know what to say, but You know what I need."
- "Lord, have mercy on me."
- "Thank You, God, for being here."
Silence and Tears Are Also Prayer
Sometimes the deepest prayer is silence — simply sitting in God's presence without saying anything. Tears can be a prayer too. The Bible says that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us "with groanings which cannot be uttered."
You do not have to explain everything. God already understands.
A Simple Prayer
God, I don't have the right words. I'm tired and overwhelmed. But I know You are here. Please carry what I cannot. Help me trust You with the things I cannot fix. Amen.
